Because of the following reasons:
The Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011 came into force on 10th September. They help public bodies perform the public sector Equality Duty better by requiring them to publish relevant, proportionate information showing compliance with the Equality Duty, and to set equality objectives.
The Act covers nine protected characteritics, which cannot be used as a reason to treat people unfairly. The protected characteristics are:
Public Sector Duty
The Trust is required to publish sufficient information to demonstrate that they are compliant with the general equality duty. The purpose of this information is to embed equality-related, evidence-based policy-making into your work and helps make decision making more transparent and supports the Trust and helps commission assessed how the Trust has complied with the duty.

Equality and Diversity Annual Report
The NELFT Equality and Diversity Annual Report, which summarises the work of the Equality and Diversity Group to meet the legal requirements of the Equality Act 2010, and the statutory obligations in relation to the current public sector equality duties, and the Care Quality Commission's guidance and compliance with the Essential Standards was approved by the Board on the 26th of February.
