North East London NHS Foundation Trust Board of Directors has thirteen voting members. Seven members, including the Chair, are non-executive members. They are appointed by the Council of Governors to provide an independent view to the work of the Board. Six members, including the Chief Executive, are executive members. They are in charge of the day-to-day running of the Trust.
Board meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 10am at Trust Head Office, Goodmayes Hospital, Barley Lane, Ilford, Essex, IG3 8XJ. Board papers are available a week prior to the Board meeting
Chair - Jane Atkinson

Jane was appointed Chair in December 2004 and brings with her a wealth of experience in a number of areas. As well as being the Director of Dfuse CIC she has been the Chief Executive of First Premise Ltd and Non Executive Director of Penrose Housing Association and the Peabody Trust. Jane has also been a Trustee of DIPEx and a councillor for the London Borough of Haringey. Jane has an MA in Public Administration as well as an MSc in Criminology
Senior Independent Director - Clive Myers

Clive was appointed Non Executive Director in 2004 and is currently the Vice Chair and Senior Independent Director. Clive has a great deal of experience in both the public and private sectors having previously been the Chair at Barking and Havering Health Authority, Forest Healthcare NHS Trust and Redbridge PCT as well as Privatisation Director of London Electricity. Clive is also an Associate Consultation for the Community Action Network and the Chairman of Haringey Mencap. Clive has a BA in Mathematics.
Vice Chair, Non Executive Director and Health & Safety Champion - David Bedford

David was appointed in November 2007 and has considerable experience in the voluntary and charity sectors. David has held Chief Executive and Senior Director positions in a number of agencies including UNICEF UK, Project HOPE UK, Y Care International with particular experience in communications, marketing, governance and strategy. David's Non Executive appointments include Chairmanships of the National Council of YMCAs, Y Care International and the YMCA world development agency.
Non Executive Director and Audit Committee Chair - Ratan Engineer

Ratan was appointed as a NED in November 2007. He is currently the Head of the Global Asset Management Sector at Ernst & Young and was previously the Chief Financial Officer at Invesco. Ratan is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is the current Audit Committee Chair.
Non Executive Director and Quality & Safety Committee Chair - Peter Wignall

Peter was appointed in January 2006 and is the Chair of the Quality & Safety Committee as well as being a member of the Audit Committee. Peter was previously Vice President responsible for European Middle East & African (EMEA) Information Risk at JP Morgan. He has also been a Governor at West Hatch High School and was the Chair of the school admissions subcommittee. Peter has a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science.
Non Executive Director and Performance Committee Chair - Marjorie Woodward

Marjorie was appointed in June 2007 and has considerable experience in managing projects and programmes for a number of agencies, including DEFRA, JP Morgan and the London Stock Exchange. Marjorie has also been a trustee for the Creative and Supportive Trust (CAST) Management Committee. Marjorie has a BA in Psychology, French and Law as well as a certificate in Systems Analysis.
Non Executive Director and Finance & Investment Committee Chair - Brian Hagger

Brian was appointed in December 2005 and joined the Trust from the Banking Sector. Brian has held a number of senior positions at HSBC Bank and was formerly the Managing Director of the Bank of Ghana International Bank. He is currently a Non Executive Director for the Bank of Ghana and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Chief Executive - John Brouder

John was appointed Chief Executive in August 2009. He was previously Director of Corporate Affairs and Nursing at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust with strategic responsibility for governance and the Foundation Trust application. John has been a member of the academic Board at Sussex University and has been part-time lecturer at Brighton University Business School. John has a Masters in Business Administration and trained as a Mental Health Nurse.
Executive Director of Finance - Les Borrett

Les was appointed in June 2006 and has considerable experience in the public sector, having previously been Director of Finance at Newham Community Services NHS Trust and Newham PCT, Head of Finance at Newham PCG and Deputy Director of Finance at Barnet CHST. Les has a BSc in Economics and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.
Executive Medical Director - Dr Steve Feast
Dr Feast joins the Trust having previously held the position of Deputy CEO and Director of Transformation in the NHS Bedfordshire and Luton PCT Cluster, with responsibility to:
Cabinet office
Prior to this he worked in Cabinet Office on issues relating to primary care and social exclusion, setting the Inclusion Health agenda.
Department of Health
For four years Steve worked as a Senior Advisor in Health & Wellbeing at the Department of Health advising DH and across other government departments on projects relating to health inequalities, commissioning and incentives.
NHS Modernisation Agency
Before appointment to the Department of Health, Steve was Clinical Innovation Director of the NHS Modernisation Agency. He has also worked as the National Lead PEC Chair at the National Primary and Care Trust development team and as the PCT advisor to the CHI Star Ratings team. As PCT Lead in the Healthcare Commission transition team, Steve supported the design of the new system of assessment that replaced Star Ratings.
General Practitioner
For 16 years, he was a partner in general practice and a Professional Executive Committee Chair in a PCT in Bedfordshire.
Chief Nurse & Executive Director of Integrated Care (Essex) - Stephanie Dawe

Stephanie was appointed to the Board in April 2007 with over 20 years experience in mental health nursing. Stephanie has also held operational management positions in London Borough of Havering and was the Operational Director for Havering for a number of years. Stephanie is a Registered Mental Nurse and has strategic responsibility for quality and governance as well as Mental Health Services.
Executive Director of HR & Organisational Development - Martin Munro

Martin is the longest standing member of the Board having been appointed in 2001. Martin was previously the Personnel Directo at Mid Essex Hospitals Unit and BHB Community Care Trust and is the former Chair of the NEL HR Director's Strategic Network. Martin is an employer representative on the London NHS Partnership Board and is an Elected Assembly member of NHS Employers. Martin has Masters in Business Administration, a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.
Executive Director Integrated Care (London) & Transformation - Jacqui Van Rossum

Jacqui was appointed to the Board in July 2010 and has responsibility for the newly acquired community health services in Outer North East London and South West Essex. Jacqui has over 25 years experience in operational management across community health, mental health, acute and social care. Jacqui is also a governor of the Aldborough E-ACT Free School in Seven Kings and is currently undertaking an MA in Management Practice
