Brookside inpatient unit

Brookside

What is Brookside?

Brookside child and adolescent specialist mental health inpatient unit provides a 24/7, 365 days a year service, which provides assessment, care and treatment for young people aged 12 to 18 with severe psychological, behavioural and emotional difficulties.

Young people with mild-moderate learning disabilities can be referred as long as there is a co-morbid mental health difficulty.

Brookside cares for young people primarily from Barking and Dagenham, Havering Redbridge and Waltham Forest. Brookside also accepts referrals from parts of Essex.

Brookside supports young people and their families to return to the community with signposting to the appropriate community support, if after an acute episode of poor mental health.

Brookside hosts an in-house school that supports young people with their education, individually tailored to their needs, to support them to continue their education on discharge.

Brookside supports families, carers and guardians of patients with support and advice during admission and recommendations post discharge.
