The Primary Mental Health Team provide the following across the six locality sites within the borough:
Direct Work: This team work with children aged 18 months -18 years old and their families/carer networks. They can provide assessment and brief intervention (6-8 sessions) to children and their families in the community and/or at a base – once a referral has been accepted the team will work closely with the referrer, as appropriate, and, as a minimum, will notify the referrer of the outcome of any work.
Consultation: PMHT can also provide consultations to professionals working with children where there are concerns regarding a child’s emotional well-being and/or mental health concerns.
Training: PMHT currently provide a regular series of training to professionals in the community – if you would like to find out more or attend one of these dates please speak to one of the team or contact the admin team by phone (below).
Please note: For any CAMH service, if you are completing a CAF, you will need to highlight and emphasise in the appropriate places on the CAF form the reasons for referral to CAMHS in terms of the specific concerns you have about the child’s emotional well-being/mental state; how long these concerns have been present; what else has already been tried to help the child, and; what you would like a CAMHS referral to help with, over and above things already tried / in place.
