Hand pain

The hand is complex, with many structures that can be the cause for wrist and hand pain including joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves.

Different conditions will need slightly different management,  although pain will often improve whilst gradually returning to normal activities.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition in which the median nerve is squeezed where it passes through the wrist. It often causes pins and needles or numbness into the hand that is worse at night and better with movement of the hand.
