Respiratory nurses will be working alongside the local smoking cessation service and Breathe Easy group (British Lung Foundation) to give advice and information about lung health, in Walthamstow, on World Spirometry Day.
You are invited to come along, speak with a respiratory nurse on:
Wednesday 27 June 2012
The Mall, Selbourne Walk, Walthamstow
10am – 4pm
The aim of World Spirometry Day 2012, in the year of the Olympics, is to inform people about the importance of healthy lungs for sport, as well as the role of exercise in prevention and treatment of lung disease.
Members of the public will be informed about how to keep their lungs healthy and some will be offered spirometry to assess their lung health.
Spirometry is a test of how well you can breathe and can help in the diagnosis of different lung diseases. The test is painless and usually takes less than 10 minutes, but requires taking in a very deep breath and some hard blowing into a device called a spirometer.
