Redbridge children encouraged to eat healthily and keep active

Hundreds of children across Redbridge will be finding out more about how important it is to eat healthily and keep active, thanks to a visit from Sportacus from the children's TV programme Lazy Town.

You are invited to come along and take photos of Sportacus in action on:

Friday 29 June 2012

Peabody Children’s Centre, Jaffe Road (off Ley Street), Ilford

11.15am

Sportacus is visiting a selection of primary schools and children’s centres in the week leading up to National Obesity Week, 2-8 July.

The health promotion initiative is being run by the local healthy weight team (North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT)) and Vision sport and leisure in Redbridge in partnership with Foundation Football.

As part of this initiative, following a 10 minute fun session with Sportacus, the children will be given sticker charts to help them monitor how much fruit and vegetables they eat, and the amount of time they are spending doing physical activity/active play.

The sessions will be taking place 25-29 June, the week preceding National Obesity Week (2-8 July), to motivate the children to get healthy during National Obesity Week and complete their sticker charts.
