Foundation Trust Membership

Becoming a member of our trust is a great way for you to learn more about what we do, have your say and have a direct influence on the decisions we take.

Being a Member means you can:

  • become actively involved in the work of the trust and shape our future plans
  • get a better understanding of the health services we provide
  • make sure your views are heard
  • receive our quarterly newsletter, exclusively for our members, with information about the Trust and how it is performing
  • elect Governors onto the Council of Governors, and stand for election yourself
  • work with us to tackle some of the issues that our service users and patients encounter
  • help us to improve how we communicate with the wider community
  • enjoy the benefits of NHS Staff Discounts

Being a member is free, it doesn’t cost you anything.

You are not committed to being heavily involved in the work of the trust. You can be involved as much, or as little, as you want.

How membership is organised

Our Trust membership is divided into public members and staff members.

Public Members

Public members include service users, patients, carers and local residents. The minimum age to become a Member is 11. Public members may live in the local area, but people from elsewhere in England may also be members.

Staff Members

We want our staff to have a strong influence and all our staff are automatically members, unless they have specifically chosen to opt out.

Our members elect people to represent them on the Council of Governors. For more information about the role of our Governors see the Governors page.
