Waltham Forest Mental Health Day Services is part of the integrated mental health teams. The service is based on the recovery model, which recognises that people with mental health difficulties can sustain their lives and be socially included. Day Services aims to enable its clients to engage in purposeful and meaningful activities (in-house and in the wider community) to help achieve their goals and lead the life they want. The team comprises of twenty-four members of staff from a variety of professional disciplines and backgrounds. The service is provided across three sites Walthamstow, (Ferguson Centre), Leytonstone (Thornebury Day Unit) and Chingford (Hawkwell Court).

Who is the service for?
The service is for adults between the ages of 18-65 who are experiencing serious and enduring mental health difficulties that are significantly affecting their level of functioning. Adults who are residents of the London Borough of Waltham Forest (LBWF), or are the financial responsibility of another authority which has an agreement with LBWF to provide a service.
Referral To Day Services:
To use the service you need to be referred. Contact the North or South Locality Mental Health teams – details below. They will assess your needs, complete a referral for you and forward it to the Day Services Manager. All clients referred to Day Services are invited to meet with a member of staff to look at their individual needs. The first meeting (initial assessment) try to match relevant and appropriate services to identified needs. At the end of the assessment, clients are provided with a copy the agreed programme giving details of time, start date, name of allocated worker and centre at which the activity is held. All clients are inducted into the service. They are shown around their preferred centre(s), introduced to members of staff and other clients of the service.
