Our physiotherapy service provides outpatient physiotherapy for adults with musculoskeletal conditions. This includes treatment for common problems such as low back pain, sprains, strains and broken bones.
You can be referred to the physiotherapy musculoskeletal service by either your GP or an NHS hospital consultant. We are funded to accept referrals if you have a GP in Barking and Dagenham, or Havering. Your GP may send us your referral directly or give you a form to complete.
We provide a physiotherapy service at three centres in north east London. The centre you attend will be determined by the location of your GP. If you are unable to attend the department for your area, please ask to discuss alternatives when booking your first appointment.
There may be ways you can manage your condition whilst you are waiting for treatment.

At your first appointment, your physiotherapist will ask you about your condition. He/she will then examine you and test the problem area.
You may need to partially undress for your examination. Bringing suitable clothing can help to make you feel more comfortable for example wearing a pair of shorts if you have back or leg problems. If you do not feel comfortable undressing, please talk to your physiotherapist about this during your appointment.
After the examination your physiotherapist will explain what they have found and discuss your options for treatment. You can then agree a treatment plan which is designed to meet your needs.
If you are late for an appointment it may not be possible for you to be seen. Please give us 24 hours notice if you cannot make an appointment or need to cancel.
If you cannot make an appointment or need to cancel you must phone us as soon as you can.
If you do not turn up and do not give us notice you will be automatically discharged. This means you will have to visit your doctor to be referred again, which may delay your treatment.
We follow these rules as missed appointments are a waste of clinic time leading to longer waiting lists for routine referrals.
We try to make sure that no one is discriminated against or finds it hard to use our services because of race, gender, disability, sexuality, religion or age.
If your first language is not English we can provide interpretation services for you.
If you’d prefer to be treated by a physiotherapist of the same sex we will arrange that for you.
Please tell us your preferences when arranging your first visit.
