Nurse Consultant awarded for Excellence in Older People’s Care
NELFT Nurse Consultant Geraldine Rodgers has been honoured by the charity Cavell Nurses’ Trust for her passion and commitment to supporting the elderly patients she cares for at a prestigious awards ceremony in Central London.
The Excellence in Care for Older People Individual award, sponsored by NHS Improvement and awarded by Cavell Nurses’ Trust, the national charity supporting nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants suffering hardship, was presented to Geraldine on Thursday 22 June.
Geraldine was nominated by her colleagues for her work in improving nursing care for older people - as well as promoting kindness and compassion within the nursing profession.
She commented: “I was so surprised to hear that I had been nominated for this award, and to find out I had won was incredible. I really enjoy my work with older people and being recognised in this way is a great honour.”
The ceremony took place in front of a packed audience of nurses, midwives and healthcare leaders at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Central London.
Cavell Nurses’ Trust Chairman Simon Knighton said: “The Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards helps us be here for nurses and midwives, either by supporting them when they face hardship or by celebrating the amazing work that they do every day.”
