Service User Standards

In February 2010, NELFT launched its Learning Disability Service User Standards. These standards were developed in partnership with Mencap, and highlight the importance that people with a learning disability have a voice within NELFT.
Service User Standards form a part of NELFT's user-involvement agenda.

At the launch event, Barry from Barking & Dagenham MENCAP talked about his role at Mencap and how he worked with Victor Hugo Staff to develop the Learning Disability Service User Standards. He said it was important to ensure that the standards are developed by, and for people with learning disabilities. Barry also spoke about the importance of using pictures and familiar wording as a preferred way of communicating with learning disability Service Users. Thanks to Joy and James from Barking & Dagenham Mencap for also contributing to this presentation.
