The key benefits accessible to NELFT staff are:

Childcare Vouchers

Childcare vouchers can help staff budget and pay for their childcare by sacrificing part of their salary in exchange for vouchers.  The vouchers are not subject to tax and national insurance, which means that staff can save of up to £1,000 per year (£55 per week).  Edenred, a leading childcare voucher provider, operate the scheme on behalf of NELFT.

Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme

CPC Drive has teamed up with NELFT to offer our staff a salary sacrifice car scheme (subject to certain terms and conditions being met).  Our staff benefit from having a brand new car, fully maintained and insured every 3 years, in exchange for a ‘salary sacrifice’ – a fixed monthly reduction from gross salary, taken before tax and national insurance, that could cost less than a normal personal lease car.

Cycle Scheme

NELFT is committed to promoting a ‘healthy workplace’ and offers a Cycle to Work scheme, which is a tax efficient way to receive a bicycle loan through the Trust, via salary sacrifice.  There is an option to purchase the cycle at the end of an 18 month loan period.  There is a financial cap of £600 per salary sacrifice agreement.

MyTrustBenefits

MyTrustBenefits is a staff benefits and discount website that gives access to a range of discounts and special offers from well-known high street names!  Upon registration with the site, staff receive regular updates and special offers via email.  Income is generated for the Trust when staff access offers, which in turn is reinvested in staff wellbeing initiatives.

Buying and Selling Annual Leave

The Trust provides a generous annual leave entitlement which is:

  • *27 Days on appointment
  • *29 Days after 5 years’ service
  • *33 Days after 10 years’ service
  • (*pro rata for part time staff)

A ‘Buying and Selling Annual Leave’ scheme is open to all staff groups (with the exception of Medical staff) to help accommodate staff with their individual leave requirements.

The scheme enables staff to buy up to 5 days additional leave per year, which will lead to a reduction in salary, or alternatively sell up to 5 days leave per year for additional salary.
