Referrals

Referral methods: Any professional can refer.  In circumstances where young person is not supported by professional, then self referral also accepted.

Referral criteria: Aged 14 to 21 living or studying in Barking and Dagenham with moderate to severe emotion/mental health difficulties

Exclusions: None. Urgent/emergency risk issues

Referrals

This is a service available nationally. NELFT internal referrals are via the INTERACT team. All other referrals are via A&E services or Tier 3 CAMHS only.

Criteria: Aged between 12 and 18th birthday. Young people who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis whose presentation is complex requiring a period inpatient treatment.

Exclusions: Primary diagnosis of drug or alcohol abuse; primary diagnosis of neurological disorder or brain injury; primary diagnosis of an eating disorder; young people with severe learning disabilities.

Test results required at referral: Needs to be medically stable.

Referrals are accepted from professionals in health, education and social services. Some of our services offer a self-referral facility. If you have concerns about a child or young person, please contact us on the above number and speak to a member of the clinical team.

Exclusions: Only accept disabilities with a mental health/emotional wellbeing aspect

Waltham Forest CAMHS

Referrals: Referrals will be accepted from GPs, school nurses, social services, teachers and specialist children’s centres. Please send all referrals to nelftscswf@nhs.net attaching the referral form.

Criteria: Aged 0-18; must be experiencing social, emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties.

Exclusions: The services only accepts those with disabilities who also have a mental health emotional wellbeing aspect, where the person with more severe mental health problems is being assessed and treated by Brookside young people’s unit.
