What types of support do we offer?

The type of support offered will vary depending on the type and severity of concern. All of our direct support options aim for young people to meet their own goals. These include:

  • Online self–help
  • Sign-posting to other organisations
  • Crisis support
  • Specialist assessments
  • Face to face therapy either individually or in groups

If you have been discharged you can refer yourself back into the service at any time.

There are a number of immediate support options available to young people who need some additional support with something that might be happening in their life or who are looking for advice and guidance.

addaction mind & body

The Mind and Body programme is an early intervention group that offer support around self-harming behaviours and continue to accept referrals from CYPMHS, YPWS and EDS services to support young people involved in or deemed vulnerable to self-harming behaviours but who would not meet the thresholds of Kent NELFT services.

Big White Wall

big white wall

NELFT are working closely with Big White Wall and the site is available to service users in Kent and Medway.

Big White Wall provides a safe, anonymous online community where you can talk about what you’re going through, and share experiences with people who feel the same as you. There is also a library of articles, tips and courses to help you understand how you are feeling. Trained counsellors, called Wall Guides, are online 24/7 to keep the service safe.

Big White Wall is completely anonymous, and members create a username which does not identify them in any way. One student who experienced depression commented, “It's just really nice to talk to people who don't know you, because they don't know your past and they can't judge you…What happens in Big White Wall stays in Big White Wall.

Young people from Kent and Medway (ages 16-18 in Kent and 16-19 in Medway) can join Big White Wall for free by entering their postcode at www.bigwhitewall.com.
