Mark Dumbrill

My name is Mark Dumbrill. I am a family therapist, which means I often work with young people and their families together, in order to try and help each member of the family feel better understood by the family, and to be able to understand the rest of the family better too. I try and help families think about their communication, style, and patterns, and see if any changes in this might lead to a better outcome for the young person’s mental health, and the wellbeing of the family overall. Family therapy is not about blaming anyone, but more about finding and using families existing strengths and skills to overcome any problems they have. Sometimes I might meet with just the young person, the parents, the siblings, the grandparents, or other family’s members, or differing combinations of all of the family depending on what feels most suitable to each family. I am full-time, permanent member of staff and work primarily on the emotional pathway with some work on the conduct and LN/Neuro pathways too.
