On 6 March the King's Fund hosted an NHS Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) event focused on leadership experiences in relation to race equality in the workplace. John Brouder, chief executive of NELFT was invited to be part of a panel, talking about his experience and the Trust’s journey supporting staff from BME backgrounds.
As well as our chief executive, the panel also included leaders from East London NHS FT and the Royal Free London NHS Trust. Simon Stevens, the chief executive of NHS England was one of the keynote speakers at the event.
John Brouder said “It is important to share good practice within the NHS in order to ensure we address the issues of race equality and support improvements for our staff. NELFT is in the fortunate position in which we have made significant progress and can demonstrate real Board engagement in the overall improvement programme. To be asked to be part of the panel at this event is a testament to the ongoing work we are prioritising in this area.”
The London wide event was well attended by NHS colleagues. To find out more about our work across the equality and diversity agenda click here.
