NELFT has appointed Professor Oliver Shanley OBE as the interim chief executive following the news that John Brouder, current NELFT chief executive is moving on. Oliver is expected to join the Trust in early summer and will be in post until the end of the financial year. He is currently the regional chief nurse for London with NHS England and NHS Improvement.
John will be taking up an opportunity later in the year as an advisor to the London region, on the Workforce Race Equality Standards (WRES) and broader diversity and inclusion issues in the NHS. John has been part of the NELFT leadership team for over ten years now and has been instrumental in positioning NELFT as a thought leader, partner, innovator and integrator.
Joe Fielder, NELFT chair, said “Firstly I would like to sincerely thank John for his dedication and commitment to our NELFT staff and patients during his many years leading the Trust and wish him well in his new endeavour. I am pleased Oliver is joining us as the interim chief executive. As a mental health nurse Oliver is extremely well placed to lead the organisation, and will bring a fantastic system wide perspective to the role.”
We are in the process of finalising the details but Oliver is expected to join the Trust in early summer.
