The Health Service Journal (HSJ) published their annual list of Top 50 NHS Trust Chief Executives on Monday 12 March. The list this year featured NELFT’s Chief Executive John Brouder.
The accolade comes after the Trust saw it’s CQC rating improved to ‘Good’ earlier in the year and the Brookside Unit upgraded from ‘inadequate’ to ‘outstanding’.
This year’s top provider chief executives’ list highlighted leaders who are having a significant impact on patients through their organisational leadership and their delivery of innovative system transformation.
The judges assessed the chief executives on three criteria: leadership style and personal example; the performance of their organisation when judged against its peers; and the contribution of the wider health system.
The HSJ acknowledged that a theme that emerged from these discussions was that mental health and community trust chief executives tended to be better team players than their acute counterparts.
