NELFT QI team launch new website

Today (Tuesday 30 October) sees another milestone in our Quality Improvement journey at NELFT as we officially launch our brand new website.

The QI journey at NELFT formally began in September 2016 with the following vision:

  • For improvement to be an integral part of everyone’s role ‘from board to ward’

  • For improvement to be led from all levels of the organisation,  addressing organisational priorities

  • To create a workforce of autonomous improvers

Under the leadership and direction of Laura Stuart-Neil - QI lead and Dr Stephen O’Connor- consultant in Old Age Psychiatry and associate medical director, it continues to grow from strength to strength. Over the last 2 years, the programme has seen 177 people complete their facilitator training, 20 people signing up as mentors and 250 QI projects completed or in progress, with members of our executive management team undertaking their own QI projects.

The team have also been invited to present at a number conferences, with many organisations praising the NELFT QI programme and its methodology.

Of the launch of the new website, designed as a resource for both NELFT staff and the wider NHS community, Laura said:

"We are so excited to be launching our new website. The website gives us a platform to raise our profile, to share our projects with NELFT staff but also with a wider audience. It also promotes our training opportunities, some of which are now open to external applicants.

It is another step forward for the NELFT Quality Improvement Programme"

The website will provide an insight into our team of QI practitioners and mentors and showcase a variety of our QI projects focused around different areas of healthcare. A suite of QI resources and videos are also available to help people throughout their own QI journeys. For the first time, external NHS staff will also be able to apply for our foundation and facilitator training courses alongside NELFT staff.

Caroline Allum, executive medical director and executive lead for QI, recently completed her own QI project and speaks highly of the programme and the benefits for our staff and service users

"The QI programme at NELFT has been key in supporting staff to make significant changes to deliver better services for our patients. It has make their jobs better by giving back autonomy in a challenging time in the NHS"
