The Make a Difference initiative is a staff recognition scheme, which started in 2015 to celebrate staff that continuously makes a difference in their roles within the Trust. A staff member can be nominated across several categories, from demonstrating great leadership, working in partnerships to delivering the best care for people accessing our services, being just a few to mention.
We recently launched a gold badge award as part of the ‘Make a difference’ recognition, of which a staff member must of won three Make a difference badges previously.
It was a delight for the Trust to award the very first Make a Difference gold badge to Stephen Singh- Khakhian, Medical devices project manager/Medical devices safety officer.
Before joining NELFT in 2010, Stephen was with the Kent Police in forensic custody nursing for five years and was a consultant trainer to the Metropolitan Police on forensic sampling. Stephen achieved his first badge in 2016, for his outstanding work and contribution for the preparedness plan helped which laid the foundations for previous CQC inspection.
His second badge was awarded whilst working as a Clinical agile relationship manager. He had the challenging task of introducing agile working to our clinical staff. Stephen said, “I did many sessions on the emotional and cultural change in this style of working. My knowledge of transformation and sharing this information increased agile working output.” In this role he developed techniques in educating staff and measuring the benefits of agile working with clinical staff. It was a great success but change takes individuals different amounts of time – using the values of our organisation helps hone our mission here at NELFT.
Stephen gained his third badge at the NELFT Windrush event this year at Tilbury. As a corporate ambassador he was a speaker at the event, which was a great success. All of his roles in cultural change, agile transformation and the Ethnic Minority Network have inspired him to strive to do his very best.
Stephen says “No matter what role we undertake here at NELFT, the patient is at the heart of it all – continually improving services is why NELFT is one of the best places to work”.
