Health Information Week 2019 starts on Monday 1 July and our Aubrey Keep Library and Knowledge services team are marking the week with a series of events.
The annual event, organised by Health Education England, is designed to highlight the huge impact that high-quality health information can have on people’s ability to stay healthy and manage illnesses effectively, giving them a better quality of life.
Throughout the week, library and knowledge services within the healthcare sector will be coming together to raise awareness around these key themes:
- Monday 1st July: Healthy lifestyles
- Tuesday 2nd July: Mental health; and patient stories
- Wednesday 3rd July: Health and digital literacy
- Thursday 4th July: Long term conditions; and social prescribing
- Friday 5th July: Innovations for preventing illness
- Saturday 6th July: Patient stories
- Sunday 7th July: Mindfulness and relaxation
Along with promoting this through our twitter account @nelft_library, our team will also be visiting various local libraries to speak with members of the public to help provide information to help support your health and wellbeing.
Catherine Jenkins, health literacy project manager, said of the week:
"We are delighted to be supporting Health Information Week 2019 here at Aubrey Keep Library. We have a range of resources to assist with your information needs throughout the other weeks of the year too, including our leaflet on finding high-quality health information in print and online – no logins or money needed! – and our health literacy training offer."
Our team will also be attending Bertie's Book Group, a special event held by The King's Fund which you can read more about here, as well as the CILIP Conference in Manchester, the annual flagship event for CILIP, the library and information association.
