NELFT is excited to announce that our perinatal parent-infant mental health service within north-east London will be expanding its existing services. This will also include the opportunity to work within perinatal services. We will be advertising for community occupational therapy posts, community nursery nurses, a clinical lead and administrator posts.
This is part of a wider picture where there is the development of the North East London Perinatal Sustainability and Transformation Partnership with ELFT perinatal services to ensure that mothers and babies within the whole of north-east London are receiving similar high-quality specialist care and treatment throughout this area.
The service expansion will focus on co-production where services users with lived experience are key in developing services which would improve patient experience, 5-10% of women experience mental health needs during the perinatal period. Government have released funding for perinatal services to bridge the gaps and ensure there is no more 'postcode lottery' within perinatal services nationwide and that all women and their babies have improves accessed to specialist perinatal services at this crucial time in their life.
The expansion will increase awareness, openness and transparency around perinatal mental health reducing any stigma attached around this life event.
