Last Saturday (15 June) saw the annual Essex Pride celebration and Team NELFT were there to celebrate, along with raising awareness of our services in Essex and our current job opportunities.
The annual event, held in Central Park, Chelmsford, is a key event in the city's social calendar and a chance to showcase Essex's successful approach to diversity and inclusion. According to Essex Pride, the not-for-profit charity that organises the event:
"Pride inspires everyone to embrace equality, and demonstrates that people from all walks of life can join together and celebrate diversity."
One of the main tents in the park acted as home to the many community groups and local organisations, including
- Time to Change,
- Essex Scouts,
- Essex Police,
- John Lewis and more.
Our LGBT+ network, in partnership with our equality, diversity and inclusion team and our recruitment team, were on hand to help showcase our own work within NELFT to support diversity and inclusion, which you can find out more about here. We also spoke to attendees about our services in Essex, including our emotional wellbeing and mental health service, and how we can support young people and families. Our recruitment team were on hand to talk about our current opportunities for permanent and temporary (bank) staff. You can apply for all of our roles here.
Michael Beackon, equality and diversity assistant manager said:
"With our range of community and mental health services in Essex, Essex Pride was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community, raise awareness of our services and show our support for the LGBT community in Essex. Given that this was the first time that NELFT were in attendance, we were overwhelmed by the appreciation and support from the public on the day."
