NELFT Health Visiting Waltham Forest together with our partners, HENRY and the Lloyd Park Children’s Centres, received a UNICEF Certificate of Commitment to the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) at the 'Celebrating two-year olds' partnership event held at the Paradox Centre, Chingford on Wednesday 17 January.
The Certificate of Commitment to the Baby Friendly Initiative is the first step in the journey to receiving Baby Friendly accreditation in Waltham Forest. The Baby Friendly goal is to increase rates of breastfeeding, support safe formula feeding and introduction of solid foods, and to promote positive family bonding and attachment. The Certificate of Commitment was presented by Councillor Grace Williams.
This is the start of a fantastic and exciting journey for all staff, partners and clients to embed Baby Friendly processes and accreditation in Waltham Forest. Julia Palmer-Ndu and Mandy Nutkins, Waltham Forest Infant Feeding Leads, alongside partners from HENRY Children and Family Centres, worked very hard in a short period of time to enable systems and processes to be in place, such as policies and action plans. Training for all staff will be rolling out this year.
Congratulations to the team
