Sexual and reproductive health services
Please visit: https://www.alleast.nhs.uk/ for information on sexual health services, as this is no longer a NELFT service. Thank you.
Our promise to you:
A friendly, professional and confidential service for all the people of our community, valuing your beliefs and treating you with uncompromising dignity and respect. Our service aims to be accountable for upholding the highest standards of care through teamwork, learning and innovation
Walk in clinics:
Anyone who wishes to be seen by a nurse or a doctor can drop into the clinic and be seen on the day. The walk-ins are very busy, so you may have to wait so please be prepared for this. Services we provide are free, open access, confidential and non-judgemental.
Services available:
- contraceptive clinics including for long acting reversible contraception (LARC)
- emergency contraception
- chlamydia screening
- on the spot pregnancy testing
- termination of pregnancy referral (under special circumstances)
- full sexual health screening (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV and Syphilis) and treatment of Chlamydia available when there are no symptoms.
- HIV testing
- coil fitting and removal
- implant fitting and removal
Please note: Before you have a coil fitted you will require chlamydia and gonorrhoea swabs which will be taken by the nurse. The result of the swabs will take 2 weeks to come back. You will be required to book an appointment thereafter. In order to have a coil fitted or removed, you need to be on your monthly period (unless you have a Mirena in Situ). A six-weeks coil check can only be done during a doctor's walk-in session only. Please contact the clinic before arrival as you may be turned away due to many bookings. A coil removal procedure does not require a pre booked appointment. For IUD removal you need to be on your period. IUS removals require no sexual intercourse for 7 days pre-removal.
In order to have an implant fitted or removed, you need to be on your monthly period (unless you are on a hormonal contraceptive method.) For implant fittings or removals you need to book an appointment in the LARC or walk-in clinic (see our service opening times chart.)
