Matt is a senior healthcare and health data leader with over 20 years’ experience across executive leadership, non executive governance and system level roles spanning the NHS, independent healthcare and the voluntary sector. Until recently, he served as Vice Chair of Brainkind (formerly The Disabilities Trust), a national charity providing specialist neurological rehabilitation and long term care.

Matt founded and led the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) from 2012 to 2022, growing it into a nationally mandated not for profit organisation publishing outcomes data across NHS and independent sector providers, working closely with the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and regulators to improve transparency, patient safety and data integration. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at Nuffield Health and Care UK, served as Chief Executive of the Private Hospitals Alliance during the Health and Social Care Act 2012, and began his career in strategy consultancy. He grew up in the communities now served by NELFT and retains a strong personal connection to the area.
