What are NCAPOP audits?
- The National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP) are audits commissioned by NHS England and comprises of more than 30 national audits related to some of the most commonly occurring conditions.
- Health Care Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) is responsible for managing and commissioning the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP) on behalf of NHS England.
- The NCAPOP audits feed into the Quality Accounts and provides content for the written report which NHS providers are required to publish each year. Copies of the Quality account reports can be found here (add link)
So why do we participate in national audits and what are the benefits?
The data is collected and supplied by the different NHS providers to help create and provide a national picture of care standards for specific conditions. On a local level NCAPOP audits provide Trusts with individual benchmarked reports on their compliance and performance feeding back comparative findings to help participants identify improvements for patients.
