Get involved as a NELFT colleague, academic or professional

There are many exciting ways to get involved in research at NELFT. Taking part could enrich your role, support your career development, or even be the start of your own research journey.

Research is how discoveries are transformed into new or improved treatments, therapies, diagnostics, technologies, and services – and you can play a vital part in that process! Your involvement helps ensure research produces high-quality evidence that drives innovation and change, benefiting NELFT service users, carers and the wider community.

Being involved in research also supports professional development, enhances staff satisfaction, helps retain and attract outstanding colleagues, and strengthens connections with academics and professionals in universities.

Staff involvement can include:

  • Referring service users to take part in studies
  • Delivering exciting new treatments and interventions
  • Sharing your clinical experience and insights
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of new research projects

We warmly welcome staff from all areas to join us on our research journey – whether that’s through a small local project, an academic study, or a large grant funded trial. We can’t wait to hear from you and explore how you can get involved.

Any member of NELFT staff can become a Research Advocate, and no prior experience in research is necessary. A Research Advocate plays an important role to keep colleagues and service users informed about opportunities to take part in research at NELFT.

We are always looking for enthusiastic Research Advocates to work with us, and run regular training workshops to inform and connect with staff who are curious to find out more. We can also discuss areas of research that interest you.  We hope that more teams will feel informed about research and keen to take part where they can.
