NEL Evidence, Innovations, and Connections Conference

The North East London Evidence, Innovation, and Connections Conference, held on 26 September 2023 at City Gates, Ilford, brought together health and care professionals from across North East London. Organised by the North East London Primary Care Knowledge Specialist (NELPCKS) service, NELFT Library and Knowledge Services and NEL Training Hub, the event was funded by NELFT Medical Education. The conference emphasised the importance of evidence-based practice in driving meaningful change in health and care system in North East London. 

With a focus on primary care, the conference offered a diverse range of sessions designed to equip health and care professionals with the knowledge to navigate the ever-evolving healthcare landscape. The conference covered Artificial Intelligence, Evidence and Implementation support available via NHS Library and Knowledge Services, Reversing the Inverse Care Law, Quality improvement across our healthcare system, climate and health, creating a greener NHS and BMJ Best Practice.

Other sessions covered were: 

  • Using research to inform clinical and management decision-making - Dedicated sessions equipped attendees with the knowledge to make informed decisions in their clinical and management roles.
  • Implementing innovative solutions in primary care settings - Attendees were exposed to how innovative approaches are transforming care delivery, collaboration, and improving patient outcomes.
  • Promoting knowledge mobilisation through collaborative networks and knowledge-sharing initiatives - A highlight of the conference was the ‘Randomised Coffee Trial,’ an evidence-based networking opportunity where participants were randomly paired to encourage collaboration, build relationships, improve communication, sharing knowledge and ideas.
