To mark World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September, North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) is highlighting the importance of suicide prevention, wellbeing and ensuring people know where to access support when they need it.

For people in forensic mental health services, being listened to is powerful. Many have experienced being spoken about rather than spoken with, or having assumptions made before they have the chance to explain who they are, what they need, or what they can offer. Stigma often follows people into rooms long before their voice has been heard.

A major national study sponsored by  North East  London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) has found that Open Dialogue, an innovative approach to mental health care, can reduce hospital admissions and improve people's experience of services following a mental health crisis.  

NELFT has announced plans to develop three new 24/7 Community Mental Health Hubs, giving residents safe spaces to receive crisis support closer to home. 

The new hubs will be developed in Waltham Forest and Barking and Dagenham, with both expected to open in 2028. A third hub is planned for Redbridge, with completion expected in 2030.

The Coping Through Football team was pleased to attend the Disability Festival in the Park, a popular community event in Redbridge, where local organisations and residents came together for a day of inclusion, celebration and connection.

The North London Forensic Collaborative (NLFC) welcomed clinicians, researchers, trainees and healthcare professionals from across the collaborative's partner organisations to its annual Research Conference on the 13th of July 2026 online.
