Nursing Support Workers Day 2021

Today is Nursing Support Workers Day 2021.

Nursing support workers are vital members of our nursing teams in wards, clinics and community teams working with children and adults in all aspects of physical and mental health.

Our Executive Chief Nursing Officer, Wellington Makala explains why it is so important to mark the contribution of these valued members of our team. Wellington Makala

“Here at NELFT nursing support workers are the bedrock of our wards, clinics and community teams working with everyone from children to adults in all aspects of physical and mental health including learning disabilities. The past year has been challenging but you have all continued doing what you do best - that’s being the best people delivering the best care for our service users and patients. You all have a critical role to play in delivering high quality care and excellent outcomes for service users and patients. Today is your day and on behalf of all the nurses, who are often the greatest advocates of our nursing support workers , recognising the vital, skilled and compassionate work you undertake, I would like  to say a big thank you. We celebrate you today.”

We hope you will join us today in shining a light on the essential contribution nursing support workers make to patient care, highlighting the wide-ranging work they do as part of the nursing team.
