Karen Hampson: Caring for others whilst managing my own health battles - a nurse’s perspective.

My journey hasn’t been as straightforward as most. I live with multiple long-term health conditions, including dystonia, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (a genetic connective tissue disorder), scoliosis (a curved spine), and the after-effects of cancer. These challenges have made my career and life more complicated at times, but they’ve also shaped who I am as a nurse and as a person.

Selena Walters - My role as Carer's Champion

I am an Occupational Therapist, and my Carer’s Champion role sits alongside my clinical practice. The Carer’s Champion role is open to anyone within the team, both clinical and non-clinical staff. We’ve been supported in developing this role by Tarek Seeraullee, Havering Carers Lead for NELFT, whose expertise, advocacy for carers’ rights, and ongoing guidance have been invaluable.

Twelve years ago, Ruby Chott was running a successful business in Chigwell, Essex. When her daughter experienced a mental health crisis at university, Ruby started her own journey in mental healthcare and eventually her curiosity led her to peer support work.

LGBTQ+ Network Welcomes New Vice Chair, Anne Bohl-Gorny

The NELFT LGBTQ+ staff network has welcomed a new Vice Chair, Anne Bohl-Gorny.

Anne is a psychologist working with young people in our eating disorders service. Anna shares her perspective working with the network: "I am really excited to be appointed Vice Chair of the LGBTQ+ network. It’s a perfect puzzle piece complementing my clinical work as a psychologist: I try to work in an affirmative approach, and I hope to now also have an impact on a more operational and network level.
