On Monday 30 January, NELFT took part in The Exercise Sharp Shooter Event at the Honourable Artillery Company run and hosted by the City of London Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’. We were honoured to be invited to attend, as a recognised armed forces friendly employer.

The theme for this year’s National Apprenticeship Week is ‘Skills for Life’ and we would like to showcase how apprenticeships can help to provide a wide range of skills to boost your career progression. Hear from some of our current apprentices at NELFT about their experience.

On Monday 16 January, Leyton Orient’s Head Coach, Richie Wellens, visited our Coping Through Football initiative to speak to participants and take part in the session.

As part of this scheme, we will offer 28 (full and part time) paid work experience opportunities to Psychology Graduates from underrepresented backgrounds in Psychology. Part of the NHS Long Term Plan is to improve the diversity of our workforce to better represent communities we serve. We therefore particularly welcome applications from ethnic minorities, those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds including first-generation graduates and care leaves and those who have caring responsibilities.

Jumping out of a plane may not be on everyone’s bucket list but for one young woman this was an achievement not just conquering the skies but also a way to say thank you to those who helped save her life.

The fact that she knew she had to be weighed in order to be able to take part in her sky diving fundraiser was a scary step for her but one she was able to take because she had been given the ability and confidence to move forward due to the help she received from the All Age Eating Disorders Service in Maidstone.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Eileen Taylor as the new joint Chair across East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) and North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT). The appointment was made by the Council of Governors for each Trust following a recruitment process involving both Trust Boards, Governors, service users and stakeholders.

Working Well Essex, commissioned by Essex City Council provide workplaces in Essex with health and wellbeing support and offer the Working Well Accreditation to recognise an organisation’s commitment to health and wellbeing.

Launched by the founders of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards and co-founded by Wellity Global, the Great British Workplace Wellbeing awards aim to shine a spotlight on those positively changing the lives of the Great British workforce. These awards have been launched to recognise and champion the incredible steps taken by many employers, service providers and individuals in response to our global wellbeing crisis.

NELFT’s Havering Community Learning Disabilities Team (CLDT) have won the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) award under the category ‘Psychiatric Team of the Year: Intellectual Disability’. The award was presented at the annual conference yesterday (09 October).

On Thursday, 3^rd November 2022, the new Corringham and Stanford-le-Hope Integrated Health and Wellbeing Centre (IMWC) officially opened to the public. The launch of the new IMWC, delivered by NELFT, represents the first of four to be opened across the Thurrock region, designed to provide health and wellbeing support for the local community.

Julie Jaye Charles, NELFT’s Board Advisor and Lead in Co-Production & Advocacy, has been awarded a CBE for services to Equality, Intersectionality and People with Disabilities.

We’re delighted to announce NELFT has been awarded the status of Disability Confident Leader Level 3.

This is a recognition of the work we’ve been doing to ensure that all sections of NELFT are providing a fully inclusive service for people with a disability. More importantly though, it confirms that our strategies are on the right track.
