The Relational Care Faculty (RCF) held a launch event today at the City Gates Conference Centre in Ilford.

NELFT is the first NHS trust to establish a Relational Care Faculty to transform mental healthcare for patients and their families.  

NELFT’s values and strategy have been co-produced with contributions from over 500 staff, involvement representatives, patients, and service users, to reflect the kind of Trust it aspires to be and how it strives to provide the best care by the best people.

The Relational Care Faculty is hosting a launch event on Wednesday 5 February from 10am-4pm at the City Gates Conference Centre in Ilford. 

Good oral health is very important for a child's growth and can affect their health. Starting good tooth brushing habits as soon as their first tooth comes in, which usually happens around six months old, can help prevent tooth decay and other problems later on. 

After a year of intensive, collaborative work, we are pleased to announce NELFT is opening a new crisis support service in Redbridge. The Well (Crisis) House will provide an alternative to acute hospital admissions for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or relapse. Delivered in partnership with Look Ahead Care and working alongside Redbridge Home Treatment Team, this represents a significant step forward in community based mental health support.

NELFT is one of four primary Trusts involved in the groundbreaking AVATAR 2 trial, providing participants and training clinicians in the advanced software. Designed to address hearing voices, the use of avatars has shown results in reducing the frequency and distress of these experiences.

The NELFT NHS Charity is offering gifts to patients spending the festive period in hospital. Hundreds of patients across 21 wards across north east London, Essex and Kent will receive a gift, thanks to the generosity of supporters’ fundraising efforts and donations.  

Relational care nurtures trusting, non-hierarchical relationships between individuals, their families, communities, and care teams. This patient-centred approach achieves positive treatment outcomes while fostering freedom, autonomy, and choice. 

Local dads can join the monthly sessions held by NELFT at Havering Fire Station to gain a better understanding of their children’s emotional wellbeing and connect with other parents. 

While the festive period might be exciting for some, it can be painful and overwhelming for others. Whether it’s money worries, the anticipation of spending time with family, or the stress of preparing for all the festivities, the holiday season can be hard on our mental health.

The NELFT NHS Charity is dedicated to enhancing the care and wellbeing of both service users and staff. Thanks to the support of the community, the charity is able to fund a variety of projects that are transforming care across the Trust. 

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)’s latest data shows that hospitalisations as a result of flu have more than doubled in the past week.

Vaccination offers the best defence against these diseases, and now is the time to get protected before Christmas, so it is vital that those eligible for their flu and COVID-19 vaccines who have still not been vaccinated come forward as soon as possible before the NHS booking system closes on 19 December.
