Children's community nursing team
The children's community nursing team is a team of nurses trained and experienced in the care of sick children. We aim to provide family centred care for children/young people in the community, working with and supporting parents, carers and other professional, while providing nursing care to prevent admission or re-admission to hospital and to facilitate early discharge.
The service is available 7 days/week 9am – 5pm, including bank holidays for routine work and referrals. Between the hours of 5pm – 11pm there is a member of staff on call for telephone advice. Children who require end of life care have 24 hour access to the team.
We do stress that we are not an emergency service. Our response times vary, so if you are concerned that your child requires immediate attention please take them to your GP or to the hospital.
