Falls prevention service- Waltham Forest adult community health service

The Falls prevention service, now part of the Waltham Forest adult community health service, provides specialised assessment and treatment for people in the community who have had falls, have a fear of falling or poor balance / mobility or who are considered to be at risk of falls. We provide an accessible service that helps to reduce the risk of falls, trips and slips within the community. Although not all falls can be prevented, advice and information can be provided to minimise the risk. The Falls Prevention Service is part of NELFT and works closely with GPs, other health and social care professionals, plus the voluntary sector.

What do we do?

We assess and then create a set of goals to monitor strength, balance and fear of falling.  This may also include taking part in a pre-arranged 12-week course, which includes exercise and education in falls-related topics. These courses will be held in a community setting.
