Child and adolescent speech and language therapy (SALT)

The speech and language therapy service provides specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of communications and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties for people up to the age of 19. The team works closely together with parents, carers, early years practitioners, schools and other healthcare professionals.

The service supports children and young people who are displaying:

  • language difficulties
  • speech sound difficulties
  • eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties
  • delayed language and communication
  • stammering

Referral

Referrals are accepted from parents/guardians and health, education and social care professionals. A specialist children's service referral fom must be completed, and signed consent from parent/guardian to share information must be provided.
