Reeds is an adolescent mixed acute ward with 14 beds. The service cares for young people aged 12 to 18 years old who have been admitted for various psychological, behavioural and emotional issues.
Young people admitted are offered a comprehensive treatment package involving an assessment programme. This programme incorporates educational, social and familial interventions. There is an extensive multidisciplinary team onsite, which includes consultant psychiatrists, junior doctors, occupational therapists, psychologists, education staff and nurses. The majority of young people are voluntarily admitted, but some young people are detained under the Mental Health Act. We involve parents and carers in all aspects of the young person's treatment.
