Chief Executive's weekly blog - 16 June 2022

This month is LGBT Pride Month and I am delighted to see all of the activity being led by our LGBT+ Staff Network. Colleagues attended Canterbury Pride for the first time at the weekend and it looked like a brilliant day. I know the network have plans to attend other events and are also running LGBTea sessions for staff internally as well as a film screening on 29 June. You can read more and find out how you can get involved on the staff intranet.

It’s a busy week this week with lots for colleagues to engage with. It is Clinical Audit Awareness Week and I would like to thank the team for all they are doing to share knowledge, expertise and advice with colleagues across the Trust via events and the all staff webinar. I am enjoying seeing the photos on social media each day while the Clinical Audit team are on tour across NELFT. If you would like to find out more about their work and how they can support you, get in touch with the team, or visit the staff intranet.

It’s also Men’s Health Week and I would encourage colleagues to look after their health and wellbeing. It is an opportunity to promote health and wellbeing support for both our staff and our patients. Thank you to colleagues across the Trust who have been supporting events this week. You can take the DIY Man MOT here and of course if you work in health and care across North East London, you can access all of our health and wellbeing support via KeepingWell NEL.

It was the extended Executive Management Team meeting yesterday where senior leaders come together to focus on key priorities and strategy. I was unable to attend as I was at the London Chief Executive’s meeting but heard great feedback about the PowerBI demonstration from Barry Plewa and Keith Apperley. I would like to extend my gratitude to the Performance team, who have worked extremely hard to support improved reporting through PowerBI as well as responding so promptly to all the information requests that have been part of our CQC inspection.

Finally, I’ll finish with a thank you to each of you for your commitment and hard work. I am extremely proud to work for NELFT alongside so many dedicated and inspirational colleagues. I have the pleasure of signing Make a Difference certificates each month and it’s great to see so many different colleagues being recognised for what they are achieving. Don’t forget you can nominate colleagues for a Make A Difference Award here.
