Joint Director of Corporate Governance Position Now Open

The Trust is on the lookout for its next Director of Corporate Governance, a joint posting with neighbouring East London NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will lead the Corporate Governance teams at NELFT and ELFT.

As Joint Director of Corporate Governance, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of corporate governance, compliance, and operational effectiveness, working at the heart of both NHS trusts.

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Shaping corporate and system-wide governance to support integrated, place-based mental health care and community health care.
  • Providing expert counsel to our Chair, Boards, Councils of Governors, and executive leadership.
  • Ensuring full compliance with the NHS Provider Licence, Code of Governance, and Well-led Framework.
  • Leading and developing high-performing teams across four key functions: corporate governance, secretariat, executive office, and governors and members support.

We are looking for somebody who is:

  • Strategic, inspiring and a people-focussed leader, passionate about equity and collaborative working.
  • A leader who sees governance as a driver for meaningful change – not just a process. The successful individual will see their role as a strategic enabler of high quality, inclusive impactful care.
  • Capable of driving system-wide alignment, while championing transparency, accountability and innovation.

The closing date for applications is 28 May 2025. Shortlisting takes place on 6 June, before online stakeholder sessions on 11 June and face-to-face interviews on 12 June.

Full details about the position, including the job description and person specification, can be accessed on the Job Vacancies page on the ELFT website.
