Winner of the award standing with trophy

The Global Majority Network’s LEAP programme at NELFT won the Outstanding Corporate Achievement of the Year award at this year’sNational B.A.M.E. Health & Care Awards.

The awards were launched in 2019 by a group of passionate volunteers from the health and care sector, in collaboration with Colourful Healthcare CIC, to champion the importance of recognising talent from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds in the sector.

The LEAP programme not only supports colleagues to move up their career path, but also retention of global majority colleagues in leadership roles. It supports colleagues to advance in their career path, focusing on effective leadership and developing key skills.

The judging panel praised the programmes impact:

"By fostering skill development and supporting career progression, this project enables staff to excel, benefiting the individuals, patients, and the wider NHS. Their work is a commendable example of addressing inequalities and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups, contributing to a more inclusive and effective healthcare environment.’’

Programme leads Cathrine Lund, Harjit K Bansal and Stephen Singh-Khakhian are proud of the achievement. Harjit said:

‘We are thrilled and immensely proud that LEAP has been recognised nationally. This award reaffirms the vital role of the LEAP programme in empowering colleagues and promoting an inclusive culture of leadership within NELFT.’
