Local school visits Corringham Integrated Medical Centre to help with planting ceremony

This month, students from Graham James Primary School helped to add some much-needed greenery to the front garden of the new Corringham Integrated Medical Centre (IMC) building. With the new IMC due to open in Spring 2022, the planting ceremony offered local students the opportunity to get involved in dressing up the premises.

“It’s a great result to have the school involved in finalising the new centre as the new build aims to bring together health, care and community services, all focused on supporting wellbeing across the entire breadth of the Corringham and Stanford-le-Hope community.”

NELFT NHS Foundation Trust Essex and Kent Operations Director Brid Johnson said.

The Corringham IMC is just one of four new Integrated Medical Centre’s commissioned to deliver state-of-the-art facilities across Thurrock, ensuring that people can access a range of services and support close to home, whilst offering a new and versatile health and care delivery model. The other centres will be located in Tilbury, Purfleet and Grays (on the Thurrock Community Hospital site).

“Moving toward 2022, and building on events such as our planting ceremony, we’ll be focused on the continued involvement of our local community in the development process for each of our new IMC’s. Communities will be offered an opportunity to be involved in naming rooms within the buildings and schools will help to inform the visual elements of the new build - reflecting the importance of local community, being stronger together and focusing on self-care and wellbeing,” Brid added.
