Minor Injuries Unit prepares to move to Thurrock Community Hospital

The Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Orsett Hospital is getting ready to move to its new home at the John Tallack Centre at Thurrock Community Hospital, opening on Monday 2 November.

The move will provide an improved environment for patients and give the MIU an opportunity to expand the care it provides to communities across Thurrock and the surrounding areas.

The new space has been designed around the needs of patients, with dedicated areas for different types of care. This includes rooms with shower facilities for pressure ulcer dressings and a welcoming waiting area for younger patients, complete with toys kindly donated by our contractor Mosaic Property Service.

What you need to know

To allow the team to move safely to the new site, the Minor Injuries Unit at Orsett Hospital will close at 12 noon on Friday 30 October.

If you need help with a minor injury between 12 noon on Friday 30 October and 10am on Monday 2 November, you should:

  • Contact NHS 111 by phone or visit NHS 111 online [http://www...11.nhs.uk/]
  • Visit Basildon Hospital A&E, Basildon Road, Basildon.

The Minor Injuries Unit will then open at its new home at the John Tallack Centre, Thurrock Community Hospital, on Monday 2 November.
