Wednesday 5 July the NHS marks 75 years of service. The organisation and its partners will celebrate this milestone by showcasing the best of the NHS. We're celebrating this milestone through various events and encouraging everyone to join in with NHS 75 activities.

Want to know how you can get involved? Check out some of the events below!

NELFT NHS75 Community Cookbook

This is a lavish, full-colour cook book with 58 pages containing over 30 recipes from NELFT’s staff, family and friends.

From Full English Breakfast to Banana Cake, and from Jollof Rice with Dodo Gizzard to Kneidlach that are perfect for a Seder — the recipes here will give you endless inspiration to try something new and learn about different cultures.

Most of the recipes come from NELFT staff members, but we do also have celebrity contributors:

  • Fraser Reynolds — more than a million followers on TikTok. Facebook and Instagram.
  • Clare Andrews — cook and blogger, with over 10,000 followers on Instagram.
  • Alice Fevronia — well-known from appearing on The Great British Bake-Off.

Park run

Parkrun is holding NHS 75 celebrations at their 5km events in parks across the country on Saturday 8 July, which are open for anyone.

Please check with your local Parkrun what they have planned and lookout for any #TeamNELFT members at the Valentine’s Park run in Ilford!

NHS Big Tea - Raise a cuppa to mark the NHS’s 75th

NHS Charities Together are inviting the nation to come together and take part in the biggest NHS Big Tea ever to celebrate 75 years of the NHS. Raising money for NHS charities, the NHS Big Tea is the perfect opportunity for NHS staff, patients and communities to celebrate 75 years of service and raise funds that help the NHS go further for staff and patients.

Anyone can host an NHS Big Tea party, whether it’s at work, home or school, and it’s an excellent way to catch up with friends, family and colleagues all whilst doing some good. Be sure to reach out to your NHS charity to find out what their plans are and how you can support them. More information about the NHS Big Tea is available here.

Want to celebrate the NHS 75 with a Tea Party?  You could also do some fundraising for the NELFT charity, The Health Way Foundation while you are enjoying a nice cuppa tea!  Please get in touch with us if you are interested in hosting a tea and perhaps turn it into a little baking competition too. The charity can help with some decorations and small prizes if you would like to support us. Get in touch at charity@nelft.nhs.uk.

There are more events happening across the nation to celebrate – read more about them all here.

Please share how you’re celebrating the birthday with us on social media, using the hashtag #NHS75.
