We are proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement for Nadine Price, a podiatrist from our Podiatry (West) team. Nadine, alongside Dr Kalpita Majumdar from Barts Health NHS Trust, has been shortlisted in the Research and Innovation category at the Royal College of Podiatry Awards.
This national recognition highlights their collaborative work to develop a virtual multidisciplinary team (MDT) for diabetic foot care in Waltham Forest. The pioneering approach is designed to improve access to specialist expertise, streamline decision-making, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for patients across services. By bringing clinicians together virtually, the model is helping ensure patients receive timely, coordinated care when they need it most.
The impact of this work is already being felt more widely. Nadine and Dr Majumdar recently presented their project at the Diabetes UK Professional Conference in Liverpool, where it was warmly received and sparked valuable discussions among healthcare professionals. The team has also published their findings, helping to share learning and inspire similar approaches elsewhere. If you would like to learn more about this project, you can read the article here.
Reflecting on the achievement, the Nadine shared:
“We are so delighted to have our work recognised at a national level and we’re looking forward to celebrating with all the other finalists on the night. Being shortlisted is a testament to the dedication, creativity and commitment of everyone involved, not least the community podiatry team in Waltham Forest, who have engaged proactively with the MDT and play a key role in identifying suitable patients for referral. We are all looking forward to celebrating alongside podiatry colleagues from across the UK at the awards ceremony on Friday 12 June at the Royal Institution.”
This success is a wonderful example of collaboration in action and demonstrates how innovation can make a real difference to patient care.
