St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub

Visual Design of the new St George's Hub

Work on delivering St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch is well underway. One of the key priorities for the local NHS, and backed by our residents and partners, the new centre is due to open by spring 2024.

Once open, it will give people across our area easy access to a range of health and care services, all under one roof. You’ll be able to book appointments and see a range of professionals in one visit with faster and more convenient access to things like blood tests, MRI, X-Ray, CT, and ultrasound scans if you need them.

We’ll also have two GP practices on site alongside mental health and prevention services and some early diagnostic services for cancer. The centre will focus on the needs of those who are frail/elderly, but will benefit the whole community, acting as a base for a joint team of health and social care professionals delivering high-quality care for local people.

The site will also host local voluntary and community groups, with a community café, multi-purpose education and meeting spaces, as well as a sensory, dementia-friendly communal garden.

At the beginning of September, local health leaders and politicians came together to celebrate the completion of the framework of the new building. With the hub's structure now in place and the façade in progress, contractors can focus on the next phase of the project which includes waterproofing the building and internal fit-out.

We’ll have regular updates here as the new centre takes shape.
