Integrated respiratory service

A clinical health psychology service that’s working within an multi-disciplinary respiratory team.

What we do

The respiratory psychologist is part of the long term conditions psychology service which also focuses on diabetes and cardiac conditions. The respiratory psychologist works with individuals who have respiratory conditions such as COPD, fibroses, chronic asthma, chronic bronchitis etc. We work to help patients typically having difficulty coping with their conditions and/or find it difficult to manage their conditions.

Treatment

We offer individual, couple and group interventions to patients. We try to tailor the treatment to the patient’s needs and use therefore various different psychological treatment models. We are flexible in our approach and we offer short term and longer term interventions i.e. 6- 20 weekly sessions.

Meet the team: Margreet Hendriks

She enjoys working in the long term conditions psychology team and has over the years developed an excellent working relationship with the respiratory multi-disciplinary medical team in which psychological thinking has been embraced and used in patient presentations and discussions.
